Getting started, system requirements, and how DripFoundry handles your session.
Getting started
DripFoundry is a standalone Mac app — no plugin install required. Download the dmg from the link in your license email, open it, and drag DripFoundry to your Applications folder.
On first launch, paste your license key into the activation dialog. DripFoundry will verify your key and download the bundled AI model (~2GB). This download happens once; generation runs locally after that.
System requirements: macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer, Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4), 16GB RAM recommended, ~2GB free disk for the bundled model.
Generation types
DripFoundry supports 21 generation types split into one-shots and loops. One-shots are single-hit sounds: kick, snare, hat, perc, clap, tom, cymbal, bass note, stab, vocal phrase, FX hit, riser, impact, and sub drop. Loops are rhythmic or textural segments: drum loop, percussion loop, bass loop, melodic loop, pad/texture, vocal loop, and FX loop.
Each type exposes parameters specific to its character — for example, a kick lets you dial in attack transient weight and sub frequency, while a melodic loop exposes scale and mode. Not every parameter is exposed; the model does the heavy lifting.
Session context
Point DripFoundry at a Pro Tools session folder using the session picker in the toolbar. DripFoundry reads the .ptx file to extract tempo map and key signature. If the session has tempo changes, DripFoundry uses the tempo at the playhead position (or the session start if no playhead data is available).
You can override BPM and key manually at any time. Overrides persist until you reload the session or manually clear them. Pro Tools does not need to be running.
Library and history
Generated files are written to your DripFoundry Library folder. The default location is ~/Music/DripFoundry/Library. You can change this in Preferences.
The History panel shows the last 500 generations with waveform preview, type, BPM, key, and generation timestamp. Clear history from Preferences → Library → Clear History. This removes the history index only; audio files on disk are unaffected.
License management
Your license supports up to three simultaneous Mac activations. To free a slot, open DripFoundry on the machine you want to remove, go to Settings → License → Deactivate this Mac, and confirm. The slot is freed immediately.
DripFoundry sends a lightweight heartbeat to our license server approximately every two weeks when you are online. The heartbeat is non-blocking — if the server is unreachable, generation continues normally. If you are offline for an extended period, generation keeps working; the heartbeat catches up when you reconnect.
Bring your own API key
DripFoundry's bundled model (Stable Audio Open Small) runs entirely on your Mac. For higher-fidelity generation, you can optionally supply your own Stability AI API key to use the full Stable Audio model via their cloud API.
To configure: Settings → Generation → Stability AI API Key. Paste your key; DripFoundry validates it with a test request. When a cloud key is active, you can choose “Local” or “Cloud” per-generation. Your key is stored in your Mac's keychain; we never transmit it to our servers.
Troubleshooting
Generation stalls or returns an error. Check that DripFoundry has at least 2GB of free RAM available during generation. Close other memory-intensive apps. If the issue persists, try Preferences → Model → Re-download Model.
Session BPM or key reads incorrectly. Override manually using the BPM and Key fields in the toolbar. Session parsing works best with a single tempo and key signature; complex tempo maps may read the session-start tempo only.
Activation fails. Ensure you have an internet connection on first activation. Check that you have not exceeded three active machines — if so, deactivate a machine first.
